On Monday, March 16 the San Francisco Department of Public Health issued an order to “shelter in-place” requiring residents to remain home, with the only exception being for essential needs through at least April 7, 2020.
During these trying and uncertain times, the SFPUC wants to assure the community that water, power and sewer services will not be affected.
- COVID-19 has no impact on water, sewer and power services. SFPUC staff who keep these vital systems running are reporting to work, and they are making sure they do so safely.
- COVID-19 has no impact on the quality and supply of San Francisco’s tap water.
- The SFPUC’s disinfection processes ensure tap water is safe from viruses, including COVID-19.
- There is no need to purchase bottle water or boil tap water during this time.
The public health directives do impact other aspects at the SFPUC. Here is what customers need to know:
- The SFPUC’s headquarters at 525 Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco are closed through at least until April 7, 2020.
- The cashier, customer service and new service installations counters will not be available during this time.
- The capacity charges counter, located at 1660 Mission Street, is closed.
- Customers can pay their bill online, over the phone or by mail.
Other important details regarding SFPUC facilities and meetings include:
- The Southeast Community Facility at 1800 Oakdale Avenue is closed.
- The Pulgas Water Temple remains open to pedestrians as long as social distancing guidelines are being followed. Please note the parking lot is closed.
- Regularly scheduled meetings of the SFPUC, Southeast Community Facility Commission, SFPUC Citizens Advisory Committees and other public meetings are cancelled through at least April 7, 2020.
The SFPUC urges its customers and San Francisco residents to adhere to the Health Orders and City guidance to keep the community safe.
