On Thursday, April 22, the world is coming together to celebrate Earth Day to “Restore Our Earth.”
To celebrate, the SFPUC is hosting a free webinar to learn environmentally friendly gardening methods. The webinar, “Healthy Soil, Healthy Garden, Healthy Planet,” invites participants to learn how healthy soil is the foundation of a healthy, resilient garden and reduces pollution. Guest speaker Charlotte Canner from Our Water Our World will teach about the benefits of using compost, organic fertilizer, and proper watering techniques for a water-wise, sustainable, and pest-free garden. This webinar will provide tips for gardening success with pollution prevention in mind. Registration is required.
There are many ways to take action and protect the Earth from pollution and climate change, but where to begin? Instead of a street festival with booths and activities, San Francisco will host a virtual celebration with local artists, speakers, and educators. The full lineup can be found at out earthdaysf.org.
If none of these have sparked your interest, SF Environment has several workshops that might. Have you ever thought about owning an electric vehicle? Join the Electrify Your Ride Event. Or maybe your green thumb has you spending more time tending to your plants and you want to participate in a Plant Swap where folks come together to do just that, swap plants.
Whatever your cup of tea is, there is a ton of fun and learning to join in.
